Can't get rid of Action Center Alert

I attempted and failed a backup onto DVD. It failed, no big deal. Now the Action Center won't let me get rid of the red x on the tray.

Basically, Windows 7 insists I put in a DVD and try again. Otherwise, I can't find where to get rid of that alert (untill I want to try backup again sometime).

The Action Center just shows the failed attempt with no button to press to just get it to freaking go away!

The only option it appears is to insert a DVD and try again. WTF????

Right click on Action Center systray flag, Select Open Action Center.

Under each alert, select "Don't warn me in future about this item"

Suggest you only do this for solutions you are providing yourself, as some things you want to be reminded about, such as when you temporarily turn off your AV or Firewall.

If you right click your DVD drive is there no option to clear the burning queue? This would normally be the logical step to solve such an issue... those files waiting to be burned are stored indefinitely otherwise...

Basically, nothing worked. There simply is no option to cancel that failed backup, and thus the red flag notification.
I'll try another burn to get it to go away. Otherwise, I'll have to turn off the tray alert icon completely.

You might check to see if this may be related to your issue since it was a failed burn to a DVD.

I got it solved by inserting a dvd to try the backup again. Strangely enough, again the burn to DVD completely failed (Windows did not complete backup...bla bla bla).

By starting over, I was finally able to have it show the clickable line that reads something like, "Don't alert me....bla bla".

While they recommend using a hdd for back up, Windows 7 hasn't ironed out the bugs with regards to backing up on DVD (in my opinion).
