Can't install 4 updates.

There are four windows updates that came out a while ago, but won't install. the updates are:

-Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2705219)
-Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2731847)
-Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2647753)
-Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2732500)

I've tried installing the updates individually and from the Microsoft Download Center. I also ran Microsoft FixIt, but that didn't help. I have been able to install other windows updates with no problems at all, but I can't download these four. I believe that there is still a rootkit on this computer so I think that it may be the source of the problem. I have tried to remove the rootkit in the past, but I am not going to buy a whole new version of windows because of the rootkit. It doesn't seem to be affecting anything really. I am not even sure if it is the cause of this problem. Anyway, please help if you can. Let me know if I even need these updates anymore, maybe they have been superseded by other updates.

The COA sticker means that it must be an OEM license (assuming the sticker states the same version and edition of Windows as is installed).
You can use that COA Key when required - no new purchase necessary.

Before we go for a repair install, could you just do the following for me please? Noel and I would love to see what a SFC log looks like for this :)
SFC Scan


  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Even though I ran it as an administrator it responds with "Access is denied." Also, I will probably just do a clean install of the OS if the same product key will work since I more than likely have a rootkit on that computer.

It's the sfc /scannow command.Also, If I use a copy of windows 7 that I have used once already can I use it again for the clean install and then simply use the product key on the bottom of the laptop?

Sorry, the command that wasn't working was the %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt command. Either way, I think I'm just gonna do the clean install. If I start the clean install and later discover that the product key won't work, is there anyway to go back. I have made backups.

But it doesn't matter any more :)

If it works now, then it's almost certainly going to work again. If you want something to fall back on, image with Macrium:
