I made a bootable USB using Rufus and an ISO for Windows 7 Home. I'm able to boot using the USB and start the install but can't get past a window that says

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."

I'm not really sure what to do to get past this, I know I need drivers, but I don't know what ones or where to get them.

Without more info, I can only suspect the problem is in the ISO you're using.

Your location? You really should add that to your profile.

One thing I've found with installing Windows 7 (anything) is that the installer has very few hardware drivers and the ones it has are very generic. I've always had to use the drivers disk that came with my motherboard to install the correct drivers for Sound, LAN, USB3, etc. when installing Win-7.

Upgrading to Windows 8.1 fixed all that. The driver pack for 8.1 is almost identical to that found in Win-10. (It's GREAT!)
And by installing the "Classic Shell" into Win 8.1, I can make it look and act almost exactly like Win-7, my old time favorite OS.

How are you setting up Rufus to make the bootable USB Flash Drive? I always use MBR and Bios. It never fails.

Using the same technique, I've installed Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 more times than I can count, using Rufus Beta ver. with NO failures, but I suspect that it's more because of the quality of the ISO's I'm using.

Good Luck,
TM
