Cant install addons / directX components

I cant install addons or directx components or anything! Forexample i tried downloading Battlefield heroes addon or whatever it is, i clicked the Install thing in the info bar that appeared top of the browser, after a while i got a security warning (ya kno that thing that screen goes dark and you get that accept and delince thing) i pressed accept and after that nothing happened!

We need a ton more information. did it ever work? what changed when it stopped? your system specs? error messages?
