i have noticed that at the beginning of the installation, the printer spooler service stops!!!, and exactly after the printer installer software shows the dialogue box, it starts again!

it is to be said that i have already problems with my "devices and printers" section of windows, which shows the famous " close the program / check online for a solution" window everytime i open it. and after i cllick on "close the program" button,it shows an emty page!

Please help me!!

It sounds like you are trying to install from devices and printers. You may want to try going right to the website and download from there, maybe that will work. If not try going to the site, and saving (not running) from the website. Then save to documents, desktop or any other place that you choose and try to install from there.

Canon are actually pretty well up to date with W7 drivers (at least, I've found they have written drivers for the majority of Pixma devices) and you should try their site and search for your device in their support section :)

I had a problem a couple of days ago with a Canon scanner. I send a note to their technical support. They had an answer the next morning and the problem was settled. Their support is pretty good. I would try it.

I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition and I am unable to install my Pixma iP4600. I have tried disconnecting the device, removing the driver, rebooting, and reinstalling in various combinations (including doing all the steps above) and I'm still unable to use my printer. When I search for a driver online as per the instructions on the Canon website Windows will spend a few minutes looking for the appropriate software then fail to install.

Until recently the printer was shown in the 'Devices and Printers' folder as an unrecognized device, with an icon that looked like a small bar refrigerator. When I checked today it was displayed as a printer with the appropriate icon, but flagged as not having the driver installed. I tried to reinstall the printer with the same result I listed above.

I called customer service/tech support this morning and was told that if the driver wasn't installing that I should try a different cable or a different port, and if that didn't work that I should contact the PC manufacturer. This isn't exactly what I would call Gold-Star support and I am not pleased with this, not least because I built the box myself and thus have no one to call. I submitted a ticket to tech support but I was hoping someone could help me out. Any ideas?

That is starange indeed. My IP6600 works perfectly with win7. Maybe you should uninstall the driver in Device Manager and reboot. Then you should at least get a generic driver.
