Can't install Far Cry 2

As for the original Far Cry, as I've said many a time, it's a completely different game. Far Cry 2 has NOTHING to do with Far Cry.... unless you want to throw in a CIA angle. Maybe.

UBI loves to cash in on Franchises that have done very well for them. Unfortunately, they have crapped all over them with junk like this one.

At any rate I love Far Cry, still do. If you haven't played them yet Matto 3 & Matto 4 are very good mods for Far Cry. Nice, long, and hard.

Let's just say that I am going to omit that last sentence and we will continue this conversation

So, I install Far Cry and install those mods and I can play a new campaign or is that something I have to do online?

School me a bit on it if that's not to much to ask?

Continuing the conversation... It a single player campaign, and no on-line play required. Seriously, they really are great mods. Make sure you read the readme file for install instructions.

sygnus, did you installed the game on Win 7? I also hope I can install on my Win 7 rig, playing it on the win XP rig was a bit tough cause its an old rig.

You can make it easier on yourself if you have a spare connection for the hard drive from the old rig, and either play it from the drive or copy the game's folder over to the new computer. Far Cry is one of those nice programs that only needs to be installed once (I last installed it about 4 years ago on XP), and as long as it is on a separate drive/partition all you need is to make a shortcut on the desktop for it.

No, I haven't installed it on Windows 7, but as stormy said, it's installed on another drive in my system and still works. All you need to do is create a shortcut from the exe.

Far Cry, you sure gonna cry when you play it. Any possibilities that there will be Far Cry 3?

Well, it did install it on my Win 7 OS but with compatibility, and I have also installed Matto 3 but it does not want to start, meaning, I click on it but it doesn't do anything.

I recall having some mouse/keyboard issues at some point before but I don't recall what I did to fix it and I usually never patch my games since all the patches are ment for MP play and not so much for the Campaign. I guess I should look into this as well.

Now, I did adjusted some video settings manually, like going from 1024 x 768 to my native 1680 x 1050... could that be the problem? You know, like I am clicking on the "Start Button" but it is not really there since I have moved to a different position to what the game requires?

I also installed the Matto 3 on the main directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\ but I remembered that the executable is under the Bin 32 folder... could that also be the prob? Can't you tell that I am jonesing?

Patch it to at least 1.3 and then see if it will run.

You installed it in the right directory. So it should start. When you start Far Cry, go to "Mod" and you should see Matto 3, click it it will restart Far Cry, once done, do your setting and click new game. Should be working. Also do what stormy said about patching.

At any rate we might want to start another thread for this seeing how it's getting away from the original thread - Can't install Far Cry 2

If you guys don't start one, I probabbly will as I have some issues/thoughts I'd like to convey.
