I'm trying to install a networked printer in an XP virtual machine.
it's giving me an error saying unable to install printer.
I found the IP address of the virtual machine was 192.168.131.65
The printer is set for 192.168.1.22. The rest of the LAN is at 192.168.1.xx
The HP network installer was able to find the printer at 192.168.1.22 but not able to install the software. I turned off the windows firewall in XP.

I can't seem to ping anything within the XP VM. In Win7 on the same machine I can ping everything in 192.168.1.xx

In Tools I have showing "Disable integration features"
In Settings I have Networking, Shared networking (NAT)

1. What should the IP address be?
2. How can I get the HP printer to install correctly?

Thanks,

When you say you can't ping anything, is that within your network, or the whole world? Is your virtual ip address different from the host? What are your network settings on your virtual machine?

I can't ping any address within 192.168.1.xx and I can't ping anyone on the internet. (the whole world).

My virtual IP is different from the host.
The virtual IP is 192.169.131.65 with Enable NetBIOS selected
The host (Win7) is 192.168.1.9 with Enable NetBIOS selected

Thanks,
