Cant install microsoft windows SDK

Im trying to install the SDK to get access to the windbg program which is supposed to let me open and read .dmp crash files.

But the installer keeps failing with this message in the log : vcredist_x64.exe installation failed with return code 5100.

I googled and the solutions I found were to uninstall all other versions of visual basic c++ 2010...but I have done that and the installer still keeps giving me the error...

Any ideas on how to fix this?

What did you use to uninstall VB C+++?
After uninstall, did you reboot and try installer?
Microsoft .NET Framework has been know to cause issues too.
