can't install os - windows boot manager says file/bcd error black scre

Greetings!

My pc suddenly stop working. I have a windows boot manager bcd error on screen. I did the ff:

- Installed hdd in another pc and run chkdsk (no error)
- Tried reinstalling os inside windows - installation did not completed after restart
- Reformat drive c inside windows

I can't get pass the boot bcd error. I cant boot from usb. I know the usb installer is ok because its working on another pc. I can't run computer repair and cant' access the recovery window. The windows boot manager bcd error always comes with the following error message even if I change the boot order.

File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc0000034


Please help me.

If you would of completed this request made by Golden way back in Nov 2014
then we would know if your install media was proper. Now we have no idea.

Back then we could of suggested a Microsoft authorizes website to download Windows 7. We can't now because that website no longer is in working order.

How exactly did you "reformat C within Windows?" :huh: If you formatted C then how would you expect to repair Windows or why would you expect it to start? What is it that you actually did since obviously you cannot format C from within Windows if C is Windows as it should be.

Windows is properly installed from a booted installer, not from within Windows. Proceed with the steps to Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums.

I'm not sure greg but I'm guessing a Repair Install was tried from within Windows 7.

Just follow gregrocker instruction exactly and you should get a proper install if you have proper working hardware and a proper media and COA key.

Boot Problems

Use Bootrec.exe in the Windows RE to troubleshoot startup issues

Create and format a hard disk partition - Windows Help

If drive C is formatted, by whatever means, Windows doesn´t work. It means ALL data on drive C has been destroyed. There is no point in using a repair disk, like Hirens for example, because it will find nothing to repair.

If this is the case you must install Windows again from your installation disk. There is nothing difficult there. Just follow the instructions and when you reach the point where it asks you if you are upgrading, don't. Just choose the custom installation as if you were installing Windows for the first time.

If you don't have the installation disk but have the key, you can download Windows 7 from Microsoft and activate it with your key.

Unless you had them in Drive C:, all your documents, music files, video files, etc. will remain intact. Just like anything that was NOT on drive C:. The only thing that will disappear are the Program Files. You will have to download your programs again.

If C: is NOT formatted I can give you quite a few options to get you back on track.

Yes, I've done all your suggestions. The main problem is I can't boot from usb or dvd. It won't run any bootable programs like windows setup or hirens cd. It only blinks and after that, I get the bcd error on screen. I already reset the cmos but I get the same black screen.

Pls note that I tried using different sata cable, different port and tried it on other pc. I get the same thing.


Please help.

If your BIOS is not working well you can flash it. If it works try Optimal Defaults, then Save and Exit..

If Hirens didn't work, try Easy Recovery bootable disk or System Rescue (ISO)

Confirm the ISO you are using is intact by checking the HASH, then write to a flash stick - from Step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

In BIOS setup make sure Legacy USB and all other USB settings are enabled, hard drive is set first to boot. Then try triggering the stick from the one time BIOS Boot menu key.

Now does the flash stick show up in the Boot menu, under USB, Removable or hard drive?

If not then next unplug the DVD drive to see if it is blocking flash boot.

If that fails then unplug the HD to see if it is blocking flash boot, and then DVD boot without the flash stick plugged in.
