Does this happen with one particular program, or anything you try to install? If it happens with all programs, even compatible ones, then you either are using a severly locked down account, or something is hosed with your install, and you should likely reinstall Windows 7. Are you using an RC or RTM code?

It's a virus trying to run. But the file W.BAT never got created.
Lucky us.

I don't have the file (w.bat) but I don't know where the caller is for this so I can delete it.

Maybe someone can shed some light on how/where to find the instigator of this.

why would I want to start an new thread if this is the same problem????

Anyway, it is DNUSAX.EXE which is running on start up via the startup folder.
It is a virus and deleting that entry in the startup folder fixed it.

Fortunately, it can't run because the other files (w.bat) it is trying to run are not there.

thx

I am also receiving this error trying to install Call of Duty 5 from an ISO. I dont know if this is an issue with the game or windows 7. Looking at the above error and seeing how its identical I can only use that nasty A word "assume" that its something to do with windows 7... any suggestions?

I am using the latest version of Daemon tools to mount the image.

First a different thread gets you more attention. second its less confusing. see the OP in the post just before mine. Now we have 3 problems to respond to and 3 different solutions. If someone else picks this up they ahve to read the whole entire thread to see whats what

Confusing, not good form, thread hijacking

As the file command.COM has not been in windows for quite a while (the correct file is .EXE).

I would suggest that anyone who receives an error message about command .COM check their Anti-Virus/Malware provision as The file Command.COM is used as a vehicle for malware
