Can't install Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit?

Basically I'm ready to explode. As you know, I'm running Ultimate. I recently decided to upgrade to a 64 bit OS. I purchased a 250 gb harddrive for it. (dualboot 32 bit and 64 bit win7) but my ISO file won't boot. I've tried everything. Yes, my PC is 64bit capable. Please help me.

P.S I don't have any spare flashdrives as they like breaking. And, sadly, no spare discs for a week. I can't eve partition because of some stupid disabled thing.

You say you've tried everything, but that doesn't tell us what you've tried.

Did you download another ISO?

Did you try a slower burn?

Have you set your BIOS to use the DVD drive as the first boot device?

What exactly do you mean by your USB flash drives keep breaking?

If you do have a bad burn or a corrupted ISO, then really you're screwed until you get some more blank discs.

What I meant by that is all my flashdrives are broken. I'm trying to boot from the iso using poweriso 4.7. It just wont show up in boot menu and bios.

If your flash drives are defunct, you do need to get hold of a blank disc and burn the ISO to it then insert the disc, restart your computer and boot into it.

You can't just download the ISO to your hard drive and boot from that, it has to be burned to a disc first.

Buts that's how I installed Ultimate over Vista. It should work as easy as last time.

You currently have Windows 7 32-bit.

You want to install Windows 7 64-bit.

You CANNOT upgrade from the 32-bit version of Windows to the 64-bit version - it HAS to be a clean install.

For a clean install of Windows 64-bit, you need a either Windows 64-bit DVD, or a Windows 64-bit ISO that has been burned to create a bootable disc, or a bootable flash drive.

As you don't have a Windows 7 DVD, a working flash drive or any blank DVDs, you are up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

To dual boot, you need both the 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows.

Okay, I'm sorry for the very small posts. I was using a cellphone.
Here's what I meant in more detail. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit running on my C: Drive and that was installed via ISO. I currently want to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit on my secondary Harddrive. (They are both separate hardrives not partitions.) As it won't boot (Like the Ultimate ISO did when I had vista) I can't install it on my other Hard Drive. I have a Vista disc which I tried to install onto my other Hardrive (So I could clean install over it) but when I try to boot it (Even with temporarily disabling my main HD by disconnecting cables) it shows me the error "Error loading Operating System"

Do you or do you not have a Windows 7 64-bit DVD?

If not, do you have the 64-bit ISO burned to a DVD?

If so, disconnect the drive with Windows 7 32-bit on it, and then try and install Windows 7 64-bit to the other drive.

If you can't, you have a bad disc or a bad hard drive.

I do not have a DVD no. It was purchased online as an ISO. I currently don't have any discs. Poweriso let me boot my Ultimate 32-bit Iso from PC startup. Why won't it work now. Is there any way of doing this or will a virtual flashdrive help? (For startup)

From what you are saying then it would appear that Poweriso is compatible with Vista, but not Windows 7.

Have you tried installing it in compatibility mode for Windows Vista?

Failing that, you need a blank DVD to burn the ISO to.

As for a virtual flash drive, I would imagine Google is your best bet.

okay, i still have the disc that poweriso came on and its serial. I shall try installing in compat vista. If all else fails, can i make a small partition to add the contents of the iso to boot from? I'm sorry for any confusion and wasted time.

You cannot mount 64 bit to install on a 32 bit system. BUY a DVD and burn 64 bit to reinstall and stop wasting our time answering the same question over and over.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to waste your time. But as I didn't know that a 64bit iso wont stay mounted. I found my Xp 64bit disc but that wont install properly like vista. When my comp restarts to set up userr etc it doesn't. It asks to boot from disc. If I leave it, it says 'error loading operating system' and if i boot from disc it tries to reinstall. And i can't repair install because i have no user account. Again. I'm sorry Greg. I don't mean to offend you and waste your time. Rangi.

Where did you get Win7? How do you plan to activate it?

It sounds like you have a bad install ISO or burn.

I plan to activate it once I have my internet connection back. As for where I bought it, i spoke with and re-downloaded the iso. But as my XP disc is not a burn it should install. I plan on installing xp 64 then running the iso from inside xp. All i need to do is install xp and that would be fine. But both vista and xp have the whole 'error loading os' both of them were bought instore. I'm terrebly sorry for any inconvenience

Why go through all the trouble to install XP, which isn't needed even if you have an Upgrade version, just to install Win7 from XP?

Just buy a single DVD, burn the ISO to it, boot it and clean install 64 bit without the hassle. You need the disk for repairs anyway.

If it's Upgrade version it will see the XP on the HD when it boots and allow the use of Upgrade version key, even if you go on to use Custom Install>Drive Options to delete, repartition and format.

It's worth taking the steps to get this right so that you'll have a perfect reinstall, especially since it's easier than the convoluted plan you've made. Read over these steps to get a perfect reinstall: Reinstalling Windows 7

Okay. As scurry around my house to look for a blank dvd. I would like to ask one more question before i close thir thread. Everytime i try installing vista or xp, and it reboots to complete the installation. Why do i keep getting errors?

It could be the ISO file, the burn (use ImgBurn at 4x speed) or something about the HD. Follow the steps in the blue link and if it fails post back exactly where it failed (step #) and the exact text of any error message or description of failure. We will help you work through it if you do this.

I can tell you. As I said earlier, both XP and Vista are both original discs. (were never isos) they both install completely until it has to reboot. (very last step) exact error 'Error loading OS...'
