Hi,

I selected to upgrade and during the "checking compatibility" I received two messages...one was about mail not being included with Windows 7. Is just with the RC1, or will the final build also not include mail.

Second was a warning that my logitech keyboard/mouse are not compatible and may not work.

I had no option to continue and the upgrade stopped. How do I get around this and what are you people using for mail?

There is no mail client in Win7 RTM too, but I'm using Windows Live Mail & Thunderbird...
I had same problem when I tried to upgrade from Vista to Win 7 (I had no option to continue). My solution was fresh clean install...

You really want to do a clean install anyway. IMO an upgrade leaves too much trash left behind .. thats why they call it a "clean" install..

Thunderbird does a very good job of importing email and address books...

I'm sure Thunderbird does import Windows Mail, but my question is if I will be able to restore my Windows Mail messages/folders/contacts, etc. from a backup that does NOT have Thunderbird installed, or should I first install Thunderbird and import my Windows Mail contents, then back it up, then install Win 7.

Does my question make sense?

That might work, or use your current mail client (Outlook Express?) and export your contacts and your mail folders, then save those files/folders off to somewhere safe. (Well I'd do that anyway just to be doubly safe).

Then when you do a clean install you can then either re-import them with live mail or (hopefully) Thunderbird.
