Can't join homegroup, password problems!

When I click join and it promps for a password, I enter it and it says incorrect password, but it isn't I double and triple checked, I changed it, I copied and pasted it via email from the homegroup computer, nothing works. I have two other acer laptops that I set up the homegroup with and had no problems. I got a new one for my wife and wanted to set it up on the same homegroup, but it won't recognize the password. Ive read a few posts and followed some suggestions, still nothing. Does anyone know what may cause this new computer to not recognize a verified password?

I think that is the message I got on my Acer netbook until I removed Norton 360...

Do you have a 3rd party firewall on the laptop?

It came with a macafee trial, the same as the others in the homegroup.

I had problems with homegroup even in the early Beta testing. I use a business Workgroup network. Manly because I have win98, XP, & Vista & win7 on the network. That is what has worked best for me, so I have never tried homegroup again.

I have to agree with the Workgroup. I mix XP W7 and Vista64 and it's not practical unless you just do file & printer sharing with workgroup.

I know this probably sounds pretty stupid, but what is the difference and what is involved in setting up a workgroup?

Try leaving the homegroup tutorial.
