Cant load 7 over vista

Hi hope somone can help. I have a Gateway dx4200 quad core with vista home premium 64 w/ sp1 trying to upgrade to 7 ultimate Ive tried clean install, upgrade even repartition and tried dual boot I keep getting the same result goes strait to system recovery options on reboot. Can someone tell me what im doing wrong never ran into this before.

If there is nothing on the Hard Disk Drive that you need to save, have a look at this tutorial at the link below to do a wipe (secure erase) to the HDD to get the best possible space to install Windows 7 to, then use Step Two #2 to create a single 100GB partition to do the installation to or if you want to create the new Windows 7 "System Reserved" partition see Step Two #3.

Im going to try above fixes ut i just read someware to take out all but 2 gigs of ram I have 6 will that help and should I take out partition with factory restore info.
