Hi, I'm the only user on my computer and I am administrator also, but I want to log in as administrator. I have been to Run command and type 'net user administrator/active:yes', but when I log off there is only one option to log back in and that is my user name. What do I need to do to log in as Administrator?
Thanks.

Isn't your user name associated with an administrator account?

Thought i'd point out, there should be a space after administrator and /. Did you insert it or not?

You are attempting to login with the master Administrator account. The command you listed is correct to create a new login "Administrator" account. I am posting a link to the steps necessary to create the account; perhaps you missed something.
(It looks like you may have failed to enter the (space) between "administrator and /".)

It should look like this; ‘net user administrator /active:yes’ without the quote marks

OPTION TWO there instead.

HTH

That option is only available in;

Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions

Not applicable for all versions.

Thanks, I was aware of that by looking at his system specs. My post was intended for those who may see your reply, who are not using one of the supported versions, and become confused when attempting that solution.

What an idiot.... 1 space! :o Sorry about that.
Thank you all for the help. Yes, my log in has Administrator Privileges, but I want to log in as Administrator only.
Now, however, I get Error 5, Access Denied.

Thanks for the help, and the welcome, I've logged in as Administrator.
Think I'll look for a good Windows 7 Ebook :).

I wonder what that gets you that your regular log in with Admin priviledges does not?

My computer is an Audio Video workstation, and Avid recommend installing Avid Media Composer 6 as Administrator.

Doesn't that mean right clicking the setup file and rejecting run as administrator? As far as i know, there's no program which require you to enable the separate built-in administrator account. .
