Hi all. Got this problem where I can't boot into Windows 7, but I can boot into other things like Linux and Hiren's boot CD. I have access to all of my data on my internal hard drive, and would like to copy this to an external hard drive so that I can wipe the computer clean and reinstall Windows 7.

How can I do this?

I tried Puppy Linux, but I was unable to do stuff with the external HD as I got errors saying the external HD was write-protected.

Thanks!

You can unmount the external HD then remount it with the proper permissions.

Or just make an Ubuntu LiveCD - it should just work. Always has for me.

Try getting partition wisard and copying your whole partition to an external disk.

Or copy the files using the Ubuntu live cd to your linux partition.

You can move your HD to another PC (not as bootup disk) and then backup data.
