Can't make changes to Audio (mp3) Files

Hey guys.

My problem is this: I can edit audio files (ie. Add artists, titles, genres etc) but the changes don't save. I have tried clicking Apply and then Ok and no luck. It just reverts back to what it was previously.

For example, if the artist said muse and I changed it to Muse, clicking Apply and then Ok wouldn't work. I would go back and find the artist wuld say muse.

I'm stumped. I am an Administrator with full privileges and if I use another program like iTunes to edit my files, the changes stick.

Anyone got any ideas I can try?

Thanks. :)

Nope. No success there. I am a full administrator and can access the file.

Any other ideas?

I always use another application to fix mine.....usually one called mp3tag. Works like a charm, once you figure out what you're doing with it. :)

OK, try this :
Go to 'properties' of you MP3 file, 'details' tab then 'Remove properties and personal info. " low on the window..
Try the changes here.. click OK to exit the properties ,then open it again and go to 'details' to see if u can now make the changes ..It should work as it worked for me..

P.S. 'Read-only' box should be unchecked, is it ?

Hey all.

Thanks for the replies.

The box Read Only is unchecked. I tried your solutions Ahmed with no success. Removing the properties doesn't work as they are still present in the file.

I would prefer to not have to use a third party program, if that is possible. On XP I never had this problem. > . >

friends it is very easy... do this steps
1. first open the song on notepad++ ( some symboles are visible dont mind that)
2. then go to edit menu on notepad ++ and select ------> clear read only flag
3. next close notepad
4. finally right click on the song and go to properties and change the artist, album name..
doneeeeee
thank you.. it will work.... do it..
God bless you....

To add details when the properties fields are blocked, I use the DVDSoft Free Audio Converter.
1. Convert the mp3 file to a WAV file
2. Convert the WAV file back to mp3
3. The resulting mp3 file will have all the details already added

It works every time for me
