Can't make Windows Mail Default in Windows 7

I can not make Windows Mail rigged to work in Windows 7 hold the default. I try to open an eml. file that is filed in docs and choose WM to do so, but it won't open it, just brings up WM. I had it working at one time about a week ago, and then my hard drive crashed and I lost....I thank something that I had to put in the registery. Thanks for any help I can get. Belle

I found that page last night again. I had reinstalled windows 7 a week ago and had no problems, but had a bad hard drive and had to replace that and then reinstall again, and it just hasn't worked this time. I'm going to have to study that page to see if this mess can be fixed. I've already run the "setwinmaildefault". That didn't work, but I see there is much more information, but need to really study to make sure I've not already messed up too much. Thanks for your reply. Belle
