Can't Manage User Accouts

Hello, recently I purchased a brand new Inspiron One 2305. I was able to create my account and set passwords:cry:, but I want to create accounts for my family and it wont let me. I am set as the administrator.

Basically anything that has to do with me creating or managing user accounts wont do anything. I click on the option and nothing pops up. No UAC notification or anything.

I was able to enable the hidden administrator account for trouble shooting but that didn't work either.

Also, when ever I get any notification about windows firewall, it will freeze up.

I've tried about everything I know how to do, so I'm counting on your help.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

As your computer is brand new and under warranty I think your first port of call should be Dell Support or your reseller as it sounds as though there is something badly wrong with your Windows setup.

I purchased my computer last week, and it came with mcafee security, uninstalled with revo uninstaller, and installed Microsoft security essentials. I'm sure this is related to a user era, and there is nothing wrong with the original setup. It was a brand new computer with a fresh setup.

I also used a program called windows 7 manager. It may have cleaned some important system files. I also use a program called game booster, which alters system processes.

Therein may lie your problem.

Re your McAfee.
Generic advice is to remove any unwanted AV using the appropriate uninstall tool.

Try SFC.Option 2.
You may need to run it a couple of times depending on the message at the end.

I tried the system file checker 4 times, and it came up with no errors. I can't do a clean install because this is the computer I use for school, and I have important programs such as microsoft office, photoshop, illustrator, and many others that I need for school.

My Computer did not come with a disc with the Operating system on it, only one with drivers.

OK, I tried the system file checker, and I installed avast anti virus (Mcafee was only a trial, then you have to pay for it). Now when I try to I do get the UAC window where it ask me for an administrator password, but when I enter it, nothing happens.

I also used a program called windows 7 manager. It may have cleaned some important system files.

Then I suggest you restore to a back up you made prior to the current problem... on your week old system.

Well assuming you have a back from when you first got the machine you can easily restore it to that state. You can also probably restore to factory state from the bios boot screen (be advised restoring to factory state may necessitate reinstalling your apps).

If you dont have a backup I suggest you start now.

Yes, usually I would do a system restore but I deleted and turned it off. Don't know why it was a pretty stupid move. I know there has to be some other solution. There is at least 20 GB worth of documents, files, and programs that I would have to migrate or download again.
