cant open any folder on my computer

Hello,

Since yesterday, I cant open any folder on my computer - when I click my computer - nothing happens or any other folder.
Applications are opened o.k
Please your help !!!!

Use "system restore" so go back in time to a point where everything was working fine.

Also try this:
Open a command prompt. Type

start  .
start \
start c:\windows

Does that work?

But the option "open" is there and is in bold?

Do you have the same problem when opening "my documents", recycly bin?
opening "my computer" works?

Hello,
Im facing the same kind of a problem. Win 7 sstarts up normally, but when i try to open any folder the screen suddenly shows only
the desktopbackground image. Everything else vanishes and the only way to get the icons or tool
bar visible again is to log out user andlog back in. Yes i am the administrator. Firefox does open
but cant access internet although it shows its connected, also if i open firefox everything
on desktop vanishes except the browser. Another program i can open is ccleaner
which i just installed couple of days earlier, but i really can't use it to help me. I was trying to
erase basic.scan couple of days ago too with ccleaner. I was hoping to find a way
to copy my images and documents before formatting the whole thing, but it seems to be impossible.
Please help me if you can. Thank you.

I'm gonna buy a 32 GB flash drive and copy the HP system recovery disc files to it, before I shut this laptop down again.

Thanks man, that really helped me. Im thinking of trying to use the recovery disc, if the system allows me, but i recall
win. Bugging and lagging at the time it was made.
