Last week I let MS download and install the latest "important updates" upon finishing, it needed to reboot. That was fine since I was heading out for a long weekend. Got home late Sunday night and turned on my PC and several program won't start/open. I do not even get an error message. I have Mozilla, Windows Explorer, Outlook 2010, MSWord 2010, Powerpoint 2010, and excel 2010 all pined to the task bar. I click on all of them and nothing opens except for Windows Explorer. I try to open MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) file from Explorer just to get the program open and nothing happens not even an error message. Mozilla Firefox won't open either but oddly enough I can open Internet Explorer (which is how I can beg for help). I know very little about computers, and do NOT want to go deleting "keys" from the profile folder. Also I just cannot loose my Outlook Inbox and sub folders!!! PLEASE HELP ME

Tried system restore? It is accessible simply by typing "System Restore" in the start menu.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I would agree with a system restore to a point before you downloaded the MS Office update.

Once you've done that you can reconfigure Windows Updates to notify you when updates are available, which gives you the chance to check what they are first.

Start>All Programs>Windows Update>Change Settings.
