Cant ping or browse files on windows 7 vpn from a windows xp machine

I set up an incoming vpn connection on a windows 7 machine and I set up port forwarding.

I am able to connect to it and browse the shared files from a different windows 7 machine. However with a windows xp machine, I can connect but I cant ping it or browse the files.

Are you using homegroup for networking?

I just created a new user, gave share rights and set up an inbound vpn connection.


It works from a different windows 7 computer but not XP.

Windows firewall is disabled and it has CA firewall but it doesnt work even when that is disabled.
