I have done a fresh install of my PC and since I have done it for some strange reason I cannot view flash videos on websites such as You Tube as well as other sites.

The problem happens whether I use IE or Firefox. What happens is that the screen goes green, then the progress bar stops at 2 seconds, but the soud keeps playing and the video still gets downloaded.

If I try to interact with the screen then the browser will crash, what on earth is the problem as it never happened before.

EDIT: What also happens is if iuse firefox and go to a web page that has a flash video on then Firefox will crash.

Flash videos stop after 2-3 seconds

YouTube or other Flash videos may initially load but stop playing after 2 or 3 seconds. This is a bug in the Flash plugin which should be fixed in Flash 10. [43] As a workaround, restart the browser or look through bug 436686 for other solutions, such as using the Flashblock extension to select those videos you wish to play while blocking out other Flash content [44] or, in Firefox 3 and SeaMonkey 2, by disabling and re-enabling the Flash plugin in the Add-ons manager and then reloading the webpage with the Flash content. [45] Read the forum topics here and here and this Firefox Support article for more information...To see if the Flash plugin is working and what version is being used, visit this page:

Just to make sure..we're talking about Flash movies in Browsers, not any saved FLVs or SWFs, right?
Windows can't play FLVs when "fresh out of the box"
That it doesn't work in IE could be due to Security levels that need to be adapted:
In IE go to Internet Options, Security tab, then click Custom level. Scroll down until you see where it says "Display video and animation on a webpage that does not use external media player." Change it to Enable.

Thanks for the help but it doesn'thelp me if I want to play flash videos does it.
Well it does help if you'd actually read it ;)

Like checking HERE if your Flash player really installed ok ( I've seen those POS failing more than once :D

Also are several FF plugins known to interfere with flash videos.
Adblock, NoScript YouTube Downloader only to name a few

I have now done a fresh install of my PC again, and without installing anything else I have downloaded the flash player but still the same thing is happening.

Do you think the problem may be caused by my Video card being on it's way out or something?

Problem solved!

What was happening was when I was re-installing my OS I was using a back up to restore my old files etc. The thing is though I was having a few problems with Flash before I re-installed my OS but when I backed up my system I also backed up what ever problem I had, so when I was trying to use Flash it was not working only this time the problem was even worse than it was before as Flash just wouldn'twork and was causing my browsers to freeze.

Found out that it wasn't a problem that I had originally I think the problem is my video card drivers aren't Windows 7 compatable?

The Flash videos work fine until I install the drivers for my video card, and that is no matter what video card I install, think it may be time for a new video card.
