Can't print to shared printers between 2 Windows 7 computers

I have a Samsung CLP310 printer attached to my wife's computer (USB) and a samsung ML2010 printer attached to my computer (USB).
She can print to her printer, and I can print to mine. Both printers are set to "share". I can add her printer to my list of printers, and she can add mine to her list. BUT...I can't print to hers and she can't print to mine.
She's on Ultimate 7, and I'm on Premium 7. We can share documents so I know that the network is working. I can see her printer and check its properties etc, but I can't print to it. I get an error message ("your file could not be printed due to an error on \\blackmatt\samsung clp-310 series on e03") and an offer to troubleshoot, but nothing helps.
I've tried deleting and adding the printers back on, and also tried re-installing the drivers.
Any ideas?
Thanks Steve

Homegroup and workgroup are Windows networking terms...

Can you see the other PC via the Network?

yes, I can see the other computer.
I haven't set up Homegroup. When I look at the network, it says it's work network.

Thats because when you setup your network connection you told it "work network"... your other options were "home network" or "public network".

How did you install printer on PC1 that is really connected to PC2???

Can you send some screenshots of Network screen and Devices and Printers screen???

To install printer on PC1 I used "add a printer" in control panel/hardware and sound/devices and printers. Windows discovered the printer on PC2 and I added it. When it offered to print a test page, nothing happened.
I did the same on PC2 to add the printer physically attached to PC1.
Sorry- I don't know how to attach screenshot to this reply

There is a difference between HomeGroup and Home Network.

If all your computers are using Windows 7 you can use HomeGroup to set up your network.

Once you've set up your Homegroup Network you need to choose Home Network on both computers.

It may also pay you to install both printer drivers on both computers.

I've set up the Homegroup, and all appears to be working. I added in my laptop as well. My laptop can print to both of the printers, so my hopes were raised. BUT...I still can't print to my wife's printer, and she can't print to mine. I've deleted and added the printers back in (by "finding" them in control panel) but it makes no difference. My pc will only print to my attached printer, and she can only print to her attached printer. And yet the laptop can print to either.
When I press "print" to print to her printer, the document seems to disappear - when I go to control panel I can see her printer, and there's nothing in the document queue.

Just a thought - is there any real need for two printers? The only reason I ask is that I'm just wondering if you're getting problems because Windows will only recognise one of the printers as the default one i.e. the one you specify.

Why not just use one printer and share that one.

In this Screenshot you show the same printer (CLP310) twice... delete the one that it thinks is a local printer (the one that doesnt say ON BLACKMATT) and try again!

I've tried deleting the CLP310 as a local printer, leaving only the ON BLACKMATT version. It doesn't help. I can't print to it, although my laptop can.
The reason I have 2 printers is that one is a black and white laser, and the other is colour. I'd like both competers to be able to use the colour printer occasionally, but the black and white laser ought to be the default printer for day to day office printing.
The 2 PC's are next to each other, so I could simply unplug printer from 1 PC and plug in to the other, but it's not very elegant. And I know my wife will panic at thought of unplugging USB cables!

So you have two printers that are the same model? One local (plugged in via USB), and one remote (over network)???

Both Samsung, but one is colour and one is b/w, with different model numbers. b/w 210 printer is USB attached to my pc, and the colour 310 is usb attached to my wife's pc. She can use hers, I can use mine, the wireless laptop can use both.

Since you can now print from lappy to either, I'd suggest deleting all printers and associated Samsung software. If you made any mistakes with first install this should fix. <-- I bet theres a sw issue preventing the printer host PC's printing to the other printer as a client.

Then install only 1 printer at a time... first on the local PC, share it, then on the other 2 networked PC's. Test just that 1 printer. Also, I'd suggest installing drivers only, no other Samsung bloatware!

Once it's working, do the same for the other printer!
