What are the file extensions of the files in question? Also why do want to "copy and paste" if you want to save a opy of the file in another directory just drag with the right button and choose copy!

this didn't work, btw~ is there any possibility that my other hard disk is locked, or blocked from copy paste of files, btw~ i tried copying small size files, they work, but 100mb+ error comes.

EDIT: ignore my question, i guess some of my files only are locked, not the whole hard disk.

I had this same problem myself, I've got some 4+Gb matroska movie files on a USB-HDD Portable and copying or Drag n Dropping to the PC wasn't working. I was getting the same error message as OP. I'm running Win7 64Bit and the USB-HDD is also NTFS.

Is your external HDD solely powered by USB? Usually when that is the case it doesnt always get enough power, try with one of those double ended USB leads, that's what worked for me.

What a good bit of thinking! Certainly makes a lot of sense. I can't say i have seen an Ext HD without it's own power supply but I'm sure they exist!

guys, the file cannot be copied is not in the external hdd, its in my hdd #2 <-internal, so u guys think the hdd #2 is damaged, but i can copy other files smoothly.

hdd #1 = local disk C:, windows 7 installed - 250gb
hdd #2 = local disk D:, all my important files go here - 250gb

Give 'TeraCopy' a try. It handles copy/paste operations better than the in-built one.

But I thought you were trying to copy to the Ext Hard Drive. The spec of your Ext HD reads "The USB powered Prestige™ Portable Hard Drive requires no external power supply". This could be the problem as has already been suggested!

ok guys, back then there were about 3 files which cannot be copied, now it' spreading, more and more files cannot be copied from Disk D: to Disk C: or any external hard disk or flashdisk..

so, is my Disk D: infected/corrupted or something?

EDIT: it seems that i cannot remove or copy paste a file from D: to any other disk.. BUT.. i can copy paste any file INTO disk D:

Also, this is result from tera copy, as i posted, this thing is spreading, now even .rar file/s..

But is this still only happening with larger files? If it is the case that the problem is the lack of a power source to the ext HD apart from the USB then it doesn't matter what program you use to transfer your files.

ok, i just tested it now,,, only "SOME" files cannot be copied, as you can see in the pic i posted, its only 77mb file, but cannot be copied...

so i did now is tested some other files which are in D: disk, but they copied perfectly, 300mb file, 900mb file copied perfectly, and other files..

so im guessing only "PART" of the disk is corrupted?? can this be the problem?

Can't see how only part of the drive could be corrupted although I'm no expert on that.
Are you absolutely certain that this is not a permissions problem?
