Cant Record specific channel?
I want to record a news show on NY1 (Cable channel 1 in NYC). I can watch the channel live but when I click the record button nothing happens. I tried to create a manual recording but it does not appear in "View Scheduled"???

You may need to add Channel 1 as a channel in your list.Tasks --> Settings --> TV --> Guide --> Edit Channels

Channel 1 is added and in my guide. I cannot set it from the guide listings. For some reason the record does not stick.
Sounds like it's a channel like internet TV, you can watch those but you can't record them. That's my guess anyway since I don't actually get that channel to try myself.

I dont think any of those addresses my issue. Normally when you go to the guide, select a program you have the option to click "record" which then toggles to "do not record" (which indicates the record command has been accepted... however when I click record on NY1 nothing happens. It works for other channels. I also tried manually to record the channel and it failed.

The only thing I can think is that the channel itself is broadcasting in a way to disallow recording? Highly unlikely as it is a local area channel, but you never know....

yup - HDTV (I am using DirecTV HD as an example) can prevent MC from being able to record channels.

The specific channel NY1 is provided by Time Warner Cable. It is a news channel and it is one of their basic channels. Time Warner Cable in NY requires a converter box however if you do not use a box you get their very basic channels including the normal broadcast channels - i.e FOX, NBC, CBS etc plus CSPAN and NY1. So this is a channel being pumped in to the analog connection of my tuner card direct from the cable wire.
