I am trying to remote into my HTPC (Windows 7 Pro) from my laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium).

On the HTPC I have set it up so that it can allow for remote access. Under System Properties\Remote Access I chose the third option "Allow connections only from computers running remote Desktop with Network level Authentication."

When I go back to my laptop I:
- click on Remote Connection
- enter the name of the HTPC I want remote into
- I am prompted for the computer name of the HTPC I want to remote into. I have checked to see if this is correct by using the same name I see when I go into My Network
- I enter it and then click Connect
- I am prompted for my credentials. My username for my laptop is already there and it is waiting for my password. When I enter my laptop password (i.e. password I use to login to my laptop at Start-up) I am informed that my credentials did not work.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

At the last step you need to enter target HTPC credentials, not your current laptop.

Unless you have allowed your laptop credentials on HTPC using button "Select users" under that third option "Allow connections only from computers running remote Desktop with Network level Authentication."
