Hello,

I can't remove "read only" attribute from any folder. In all folder, "read only" attribute is checked. But when I tried to unchecked "read only" and applying OK, then it becomes as previous. Even I have restored my system , but it not working properly.

How can i solve this problem? How can remove check the "read only" attribute??

Thanks
Saikat

Hi jobs3saikat and welcome to SF

Are you saying that the hidden attribut is actually set?
Or is it just "hilighted" like in my screen shot.
Can you actually copy files into one of those folders and can you open one such file, alter it and successfully save it back?
(Like creating some random text file, load it in notepad, change something and save it back without error message)

Hello DG,

Thanks for your reply. My problem is just like your screen shot. When I reset the read only attribute from the inner files properties, then the are looking fine. But I can't remove read only from the folder just like your screen shot.

Saikat

You are mistaken...the "Read only" attribute is NOT set. just highlighted !!
Proof: If you click the highlighted box twice you'll get a check mark. Only if you click apply or OK after that the folder is set to Read only.
I can't say why this box is highlighted but it doesn't seem to cause any problems on my computers.

I can't say why this box is highlighted but it doesn't seem to cause any problems on my computers.

I think it is because it does not make the folder itself read only but just the current files inside it.

If you took the time to read it clearly says: "Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)"
Folders have no read-only attribute.

I cannot save changes to photographs in a particular folder. The folder properties shows Read-Only highlighted (not checked) but the properties for each photo file do not. This is the message I get when trying to save: "Could not save as ,""".\Diamond Tail from hill .. ," because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file."
