cant restore system image

i had a 750Gb hybrid drive as boot drive and i have a system image of this drive. now that the drive is bad iam trying to restore the system image on to a 1Tb drive but it keeps telling me that no drive is found for the image to be restored.
what could be the issue ? In BIOS i have put the drive as boot drive and made its partition active .
I previously had the problem where i was trying to restore the image to a smaller drive but this time i am trying to restore the image to a 1Tb drive which is larger than the original disk of 750Gb.

Try adding the .inf file of the SATA driver or chipset driver . When it can't locate the drive .

what you mean by that can you please explain ?
is it a known issue that motherboard sometimes recognize the drive and sometimes not?

Depends . Sometimes you need to use drivers for the installation will see the hard drive .

oh wait a sec i just realized that the restore process does see the drive and warns me that it will be formatted. .so then putting the .ini file is not needed right?

The .inf file is only needed if the Restore doesn't see the drive. The inf file is the driver you use so Windows could see the drive.
