I recently got a western digital elements hard drive. I moved a lot of things on it. Anyways now I'm looking for a specific file. But whenever click the hard drive and search the file name, it doesn't show up. I can manually find the file but it wont show up when I search. Folders can be found but anything in the folder cant not be searched. For E.g I search Documents. The folder will pop up. But if I search word1.doc it wont show up even tho I can find it manually. Is there a way to fix this??

I find the windows search utility nearly worthless. You could try Cathy or Everything or SearchMyFiles instead.

Hello Ringo14!

This is quite a strange issue!
Desktop or Windows Search somethimes doesn't do well enough. But may be the function can be modified.
Do you have Indexing on?

You could try the following:
1. Click Start and Type "Search"
2. Click on "Change how Windows searches"
3. Click on Advanced and select File types
4. Make sure that for the files you search for you have Index Properties and File Contents selected
5. Click OK but don't exit from where you clicked on the Advanced button
6. Perhaps afterward you'll have to rebuild/reset the Indexing options

I hope this was of help!
Cheers!
