can't start start-up repair, keeps starting recovery mangment

I have an error that system32/hall.DLL is missing so I put in my windows 7 DVD ( I Have 4 DVDs for my windows, gateway, I always put the first one) so I could start start-up repair but when the windows files is loaded it keeps starting recovery mangment which gives me options to recover my hard drive to factory defaults (ie delete files on c and reinstall windows) ,why I don't get options to choose startup repair, how can I get it to start start-up repair?

Have a look at this tutorial linked below, starting at Step Three to see how to boot to the F8 startup screen, from there choose the "Repair My Computer" option to do the startup repairs and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

I tried these steps before and it didn't work, but anyway I fixed it I booted from a different drive and the windows worked and then I created a system repair disc and I used it to start start-up repair, but thanks for your reply.......)

Good to see you got it running, perhaps you want to post a snip on Windows 7 disk management to look at so we can see if there's a recurring issue you need to sort.

   Note

So you can get the correct advice, please post a maximized snip / screen-shot of Windows 7 disk management, making sure the Status column in the top section is clearly readable, have a look at this tutorial linked below.
