Can't uninstall a previous iTunes installation

There is an iTunes installation listed in Programs and Features, but when I try to uninstall it, I get a message saying, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." It wants me to find an alternate path to iTunes64.msi.

I have tried extracting iTunes64.msi from the most recent version of iTunes x64, but it won't accept it. By default, it looks for the file here: "C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\iTunes 8.0.2.20\". However, there is no such folder, and I can't find any "Installer Cache" folder on my computer.

I have also tried uninstalling with CCleaner, but it reports that it can't find the MSI file.

I have tried installing the most recent version of iTunes x64, but it reports that it can't uninstall an older version of iTunes and refuses to install.

Any suggestions?

Type services.msc in the 'run' box, click okay. Locate iTunes, right click on it then choose properties. Set it to disabled. Now see if you can uninstall it.

Also, have you selected to show 'hidden files and folders', which is located via control panel > Folder Options > view tab?

I do have "hidden files and folders" set to show, but iTunes is not listed in Services.

You guys are the best. Windows Installer CleanUp Utility worked. I had actually installed it yesterday, but couldn't find it after installing it and just assumed that it wasn't going to work properly with Windows 7. But I did a search for it, it showed up, and it did the trick.

Thank you so much!

totally lost

I am "new" to Windows, had 6 years on a Mac, and before that I worked on 95... so forgive the total ignorance. Most of the advice is way above my head, but I did look up the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. I tried to download it, and it would not load properly. I get the following error:

Script:
C:\Users\XOPHER~1\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\StartMsi.vbs
Line: 17
Char: 1
Error: Permission denied
Code: 800A0046
Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error

Any suggestions? Thank you.
