Can't update to SP1 coz of SXS corruption

Hi
I'm running windows 7 x64 and I wished many times to install sp1 but I always get this error:
error sxs component store corrupt 0x80073712

I prepared a slipstreamed sp1 with windows 7 using the RT7 Lite tool and now whenever I want to do a repair install, it doesn't continue installation process quitting in the middle.

Any idea on how to repair my windows with windows sp1 integrated so that i don't have to install everything new from scratch?

I tried repair install and it didn't work (it quit in the middle)
Tried the fix file but still no luck
Sounds like I'm stuck with a clean install of the whole OS which is a pain in the butts especially with all the options and settings I've configured in Office 2010. If there's any method on how to export Office 2010 settings especially the options in all of the office suite, then that would take most of the pain away. (I know how to export the quick access toolbar but that's not the only thing I customized!)

In office 2003 and 2007 there was a save my settings wizard. But, I'm not sure if you can do this with 2010. If not, you'd have to use a third party software http://www.settingsbackup.com/ I don't know of any free ones.

A corruption of sxs is pretty serious and repairing it is not obvious. Even the installation disk may not have all the mirrors to repair it. A lot of files (.dlls) get into sxs post initial installation and those would be unknown to the repair/installation disc.

I think you are right. Your best option is probably a reinstallation. Do you have any idea how sxs got damaged in the first place. Would be important because you don't want that to happen again.

In the future, make frequent images to avoid reinstallations.
