Can't use send & receive - Office 2010

Thanks, Irene, but my problem is something with the "Send/Receive" module. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times but I still get a message when try to Send/Receive that an object is missing. It has to be something outside of Outlook.

Why can't I open Documents & Settings? I am the administrator and only user. Is this a Win 7 "thing"? I believe it is along with Programs, etc.
Anyone confirm?

I am befuddled by the fact that I can set up a new email account within Outlook and the wizard even searches for the settings from my provider and installs them automatically. Then it sends a test email message which also works.

BUT, I still can't Send or Receive anything. . .

OK. As a brain check, let's summarise what the problem is and what didn't work so far.
1. Machine is a new core i5 w/3.20 processor and 8gb memory with Win 7 home professional 64bit.
2. Trying to install Office XP professional, then upgraded to Enterprise 2007. Both had exactly the same problem. Problem is: Everything appears to install properly and Office profiles and .pst files are all good. I set up my email account in Outlook and it finds my email settings, automatically loads them into my profile and It can send a test email to confirm. Test email does come through (retrieved at another machine). Now, I hit "Send/Receive" to get emails from my Pop email server and I get the following message. "An error occurred. An object can not be found". It does not indicate what object it's looking for.
3. I created my own test email and "sent" it using the send button on the new email itself. It promptly and correctly goes into the Outbox. However, when I hit Send all, I get an out of memory error and am asked to close some programs or files. Nothing else is running at that time and upon checking, I have plenty of memory available at that time.
4. This appears to be a problem where a file or dll or registry entry, etc. is missing and it appears this has nothing to do with Outlook. I say that because I tried un and re installing Office several times - always with exactly the same error.
5. Other email programs on this machine work fine, Windows Live mail for example. I can retrieve mail, send and receive, etc. on the same email account.
The Office software installed on my other machine (Win XP Pro) works perfectly including Send/Receive.
6. Possibilities
a. this is a win 7 issue
I don't think so because other win 7 users are running the same software.
b. A file is missing. However, reinstalling Office doesn't fix the problem
c. An Office setting/profile,pst,srs file is corrupt.
After uninstalling all the sofware, I deleted everything I could find on my computer left from Outlook and Office.
I also ran msciuu2 to clean up the registry.
I also ran every "fix it" offered on the Outlook forum pages suggested by you various posters.
7. The problem exists exactly as before: Can't Send/Receive - an object can't be found.

I'm stumped. Any suggestions from the Outlook Pro's?

Keep Chugging

2010 run on Win7 SP1 X64 because I am running it.
I didn't see you mention this:

Control Panel> Programs and Features> right click Office select Change and see if it can repair itself. Not overly confidant in this but you never know.

Another Stab

If you are running Avast, go to the Avast site and hunt mail problems. I know for a fact that there are instances where it interferes with mail programs.

Another ploy would be to uninstall Avast and test drive MSE security essential until you correct your problem.

Wish I were more help.

I've read the article but I don't think that's the problem. Remember, other email programs and Internet connections work fine on this machine. Windows Live mail works perfectly and it can send and receive mail. / ? ?
Thanks for the try.

Thanks to help from member=Hammerhead, I've checked out several articles and "fix-it's" in the Outlook section.
Nothing yet.
I wonder if Windows Live Mail could be interfearing with Outlook. Anybody running both on the same machine?

Thanks to Irene's insistance that I go back to the Outlook solutions center, I did.
After poking around and searching/researching several articles, I found the fix. It is a Registry key entry that has to be deleted as follows:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings\
This fixed the problem. I am sincerly grateful to Irene and Hammerhead for all their help and persistance in sticking with this proble. You guys are real pro's.
