Hi,

Less than 2 weeks ago I've my first BSOD with Win7! (had lots in the past with XP...).
After installing an update the 10th Dec (maybe just a coincidence...) I could not reach some links, IE11 stopped to work, BSOD...

I restore my laptop (yes it is a Tecra R840 running on a i7 with 8GB RAM and a 512GB Plextor SSD) via an image I made the 27th of April (using Macrium which took 32 hours to restore the 100GB image!...but despiste the time the restoration was 100% successeful). The image puts IE10 in my laptop again :-).

Ok, now my experience:

- I had reliability issues (visible at reliability history at action center) in the past and even after the restoration

- My boot time was 24 secs (average)

then, one week after restoration I decided to ENABLE all the services (lots were disabled for "performance..."). Yes, all the service are running AUTO, AUTO delayed or MANUAL (none are disabled now!!!). You know what:

- My reliabilty history is 100 % now !!!

- My boot time is consistently less that 19 secs !!!

Can anyone explain me this?

From now on I will never disable anything...even the Windows Login (if I use netplwiz to make an automatic logon....boot time increases to 22-23 secs!!!).

Just to share my experience :-) (and fingers crossed)

Cheers,
paulo

About Macrium....I was so satisfyed with the result that I bought the Professional version! Now all my drivers are in the bootable disk (something I never was able to get with the free version....)
