Casio Cam Files

I have some old Casio .cam files of my kids I would like to be able to view and print etc......does anyone know of a program that will let me view and print these files and/or convert them to jpeg??

According to the article, just changing the extension from cam to jpg works. I would back up the files before doing this.

In the hope that this saves someone some time:

I had some Casio cam files from around 1999.

1. The latest Xnview was able to open these today, but the photo did not display correctly - the aspect ratio was incorrect and the photo was stretched out of proportion and unusable.

2. Just renaming the extension from .cam to .jpg definitely does not work. The format is different. Either there was a newer/different .cam graphics format at some point, or this information is completely incorrect and was published erroneously.

I will post an actual working solution if I find one.

Irfanview (latest) does not work.

It does have Casio .cam listed, but states that it is the jpg version only. (and mine obviously is not).

Which answers my earlier query that there were different .cam formats.

Ok, have sent Casio a support request, but not sure if I will hear back considering the file format is not 18 years old.

This variation on my first Xnview attempt, seems to do the job though.

1. Install Xnview (on latest attempt I went with the full version, but that may not make any difference ((there are 3 version, and they are all free))). Am using revision 2.43

2. Open the file using Xnview. My cam files opened with the incorrect aspect ratio of 480x240 pixels (therefore a have photo where the height is incorrect, and too low (giving an image that is crunched down and no good in its current state).

3. Go image>resize. Remove the keep ratio tick. Change the print size option to "%". Change the height to 150 from 100, leaving the width as is (set to 100). Click Ok.

4. You have an image that by todays standards look quite low res, but was considered good in its day. (there are other option in the resize Windows to play around with if you like). I may try enlarging the image a little?

I used your tips, and It worked !
Now I use XNview with a script that automatically convert to JPG and resize height to 150.
All my old pictures are now available.
