Solved cat 5 or cat 6 cables - differences in service providers ?
In normal residential internet service wiring....is there any difference it the coaxial cables run by Cox Cable (or others) vs Direct TV ? Does either or both use a different type of cabling than normal cat 5 or whatever (cat) is commonly used today ?

I think coaxial cables are most used for connecting devices between them...while Patch cables should be used to internet, network...Cat5 or Cat6.
I'm using at home for network
V7 CAT6 Patch Cables just more reliable than the Cat5e for gigabit networks.
PS: Looks like for TV broadcasting, the Cat6 should be better for handling high MHz.

What are the types of cabling that Internet Service Provider use
Is there a difference between Cox (my current provider} and Dish Network and/or Direct TV as far as types of installation cables they use ?
Can/will Direct TV use existing Cox coaxial cabling...visa-versa...or does each service have to have their own proprietary cabling inside and outside the home
Thanks...TiminAz

I have had DirecTV use Comcast cabling with no problems. It has been about 5 years ago. The cabling might be different now days or better.
