Catalyst 9.3 with Win 7 x64 RTM - cannot install

Hello,

Catalyst 9.3 driver ist the last driver to support old Radeon Xpress Series (integrated graphics for laptops), so I have to use it. But I cannot install it, although it is the correct driver:
9-3_vista64_win7_64_dd.exe
ATI InstallManager offers to install the driver, but after installation report says that it wasn't installed because of wrong hardware.

CCC 9.3 works, but the Displays Manager and the Theater Mode are missing, but I need it. I think this is because of the native Win 7 driver.

Any ideas?

First, download driver sweeper (free download, google it).
Start Windows in safe mode - uninstall the video driver in control panel if it is there, then uninstall it in device manager. Run Driver Sweeper and remove all ati.
Restart your computer and install the Catalyst 9.3
This will eliminate any conflict with native windows drivers.

Seams they havn't done a Windows 7 driver yet

I will remember this solution, if the normal way won't work.


I installed Catalyst 9.2 for Vista x64 without any problem. Strange!
I will report later, if it solved my problem of missing Theater Mode.

Edit: Unfortunately 9.2 doesn't solve my problem. But I'm sure 9.3 wouldn't do also. Ati doesn't override the stupid displays manager, that is built in Win 7.
Should I try to install CCC 9.7 and later, while keeping the driver from 9.2 ?

You can install 9.7 version and it will fix your problem. Make sure you run driver sweeper and uninstall the old driver first if not you will have a problem..

Thank you, but that's not correct. Radeon Xpress series is not supported in Catalyst later than 9.3 . It is in legacy support now.

My solution: Now I am using Catalyst 9.2 (CCC and driver) for Vista x64. CCC 9.2 has Displays Manager, but it is nearly useless, because Theater Mode is still missing. But the Win 7 displays manager is not so bad as I thought, I can live with it.
