I need serious help with this matter. I was trying to partition my hard drive to dual boot Linux and while changing the partition size I didn't select the partition as primary so i just pressed esc while the partition was in process. Now i get a message when I try start my computer(Compaq Presario CQ62). "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disk and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language setting and then click "next".
3. Click "Repair your computer"

If you do not have this disk, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer.

Status: 0xcoooo225
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessable.

First of all I do not have a system disk and second will i lose my information because i did not back up my info?

Check this tutorial, which explains how to create a system repair disc.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2083-system-repair-disc-create.html

Thos repair disc won't reinstall Windows, but it will get you into the Recovery Environment, from where you can access various repair options.

Obviously, you won't know if you've lost any data until you get your system up and running again.

How do you plan to create a system repair disc if you can't boot into windows?

The same recovery options are on the windows 7 installation dvd - but I assume if you had one of those, you would have mentioned it.

You could always borrow a windows 7 installtion disc - or in extremis , google is a well known search engine.

Try booting into System Recovery Options on the F8 menu as shown in Option One in blue link.

If these fail and you cannot make a Win7 System Recovery Disk or don't have access to an Installation DVD, try booting into free Partition Wizard bootable CD, rightclick on your Win7 partition to see if data is still intact. If so make sure partition is marked Active then click on Disk # to highlight it, from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, Apply steps, reboot.

This may preclude the need to run Startup Repair 3 Separate Times to repair or rewrite the System boot files to the Active partition.

If this fails, what is your licensed Win7 version printed on the COA sticker? 32- or 64-bit?

@SIW2 I'm using another laptop for that.
