Hey everyone, new to Seven Forums, I'm here because of a rather frustrating issue I am dealing with.

I have a windows 7 computer with An ATI Radeon HD 5670 Video Card.

I haven't had any issues with the Catalyst Control Center up until now.

I loaded up a game of Mass Effect 1, which I had played about two months ago with no isssue what so ever; and I noticed the graphical quality was so bad compared to before. I double checked the options>settings>Graphics and everything was set to Ultra High like the last time I had played it. But the shadowing looked like crayon marks and the facial hair looked like dirt smudges. Very awkward. So I decide to load up the CCC to play around with the settings there and see where the issue was. Then I notice CCC isn't running, AND whenever I try to open it, (the half of the time it DOES run) it will within seconds crash giving me this message: Catalyst Control Center stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Ok lol Well that does not work. I looked up methods to fix this, ie Downloading the latest Drivers and CCC version, I uninstalled them and reinstalled them nothing works, same crash message. I tried this guys method, but alas there was no "90ba9c70f846762e" token there to delete in the first place. So I ruled that out as a solution.

I'm at a loss of ideas on how to solve this and am open to alternative ideas. Id rather have a good community help out versus break something that may not be broken further.

Thanks in advance for any help,

~Rager

Uninstall everyhting ATI, the drivers, CCC. You should be able to get rid of everything through control panel, add remove programs. Reboot and let windows install the drivers. You don`t have to install CCC if you don`t really need it. Dual Monitors etc. All can be done through windows. Post your results.

Im sure it's food coloring XD

Ok so I removed CCC and the ATI Drivers, rebooted windows, the drivers auto installed. However my resolution before was 1080p, now it is an odd resolution that does not quite fit my screen. 1400x1050 is the highest option available.

OK, next step. Go into device mgr. right click on your display adaptor and update drivers and see what happens. What is the native resolution of your monitor?

You just might have to go back to amd.com and download the catalyst software suite for your video card. It must have some options in it. Maybe it won`t crash this time.

Ok after following your next step I have the correct resolution back! :) I'm running the computer on a 40" Philips LCD Flat-screen, native resolution of 1920x1080. There's still a half inch of black where the display ends on either side of the screen though, as if it were scaled back.

Seems like games installation corruption to me.If you have re-installed Graphics drivers as suggested by AddRAM and still getting the same error, try to re install Mass effect or install some other game and see if the error is repeated.

Computers are funny like that when you hook them up to a big screen. I hooked my 2 9600 GTs to my 40" Bravia and could never get it to look right. Tooooo big in my opinion. Keep messing with it, you came this far. CCC crashing ?
