Every time I run Ccleaner register clean up it shows the following...
ActiveX/COM IssueInProcServer32\%systemroot%\system32\sharemediacpl.cplHKCR\CLSID\{B977CB2D-EC6E-4A8F-BFFE-D18682BB0D52}

So I clean it and run Ccleaner again it it shows the same. No matter how many times I clean this, it comes right back. Is this something I should be worried about? Chuck

Thanks but I didn't ask if I should use the registry cleaner. I have been using it for years without ever having an issue. I would like to know if this sharemediacpl.cpl is something I should worry about or ignore? Chuck

The sharedMedia package is a standard package that comes with Windows. I believe it is related to sharing media over the Lan using WMP. Something is probably registering a program to use with that file type, and the program is not installed. So CCleaner flags it.

Unless you detect some weird behavior I would say no harm no foul.

CCleaner seems unable to fix the ActiveX/COM issue due to insufficient permissions on that registry entry. To resolve this try the following procedure:-

In CCleaner - select to Open in Regedit
Right-click highlighted - permissions
Advanced button
Owner - change
Administrators - Check Names - OK
Tick - Replace owner on subcontainers and objects - Ok
Advanced - Highlight Administraors -
Tick "Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permissions from this object" - Ok - Yes
Ok
Close Regedit
In CCleaner select to "Fix issue(s)"
Scan for issues - issue(s) cleared

I hope that helps -Cheers :)
