Solved CD Drive not recognizing any CD.

My computer won't recognize any CD or DVD I put in. Won't even come up in My Computer
I tried a few Fix-It programs that were suggested in a similar thread, but they couldn't seem to locate the problem. After looking into Computer Management I came up with this message.
Any suggestions?

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I think what you have to do is delete the upper and lower filters values in the registry.
Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Thanks for replying! I followed the instructions on the link that you gave and they worked well for the most part, until I realized that I didn't have the lower filter. After deleting the upper filter I restarted the computer and it worked. I'm not 100% sure how or why this happened, but I'm glad it worked without having to go through pain.

The missing lower filter value may be why it didn't work. I do believe windows will recreate those entries. Have a look and see if they are both there now. Oh, I'm glad it worked for you.

My drive still works, but it still doesn't have the lower filter. The upper filter is there again.
Perhaps my drive doesn't need a lower filter and the upper one corrupted somehow?
