I have upgraded to W7 Ultimate, since then I have not had the CD drives showing in windows explorer in the drop down section on the left. If I put a disc in it then shows up. I am used to XP and all my drives showing.
I looked at the properties for the drives and there is the message showing, Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) instead of "this device is working properly".

Can anyone help

If you go to Folder Options and look under the View tab, you should see a Hide empty drives in Computer folder. If its checked, un-check it and that should fix part of your problem.
