Here's the story, I'm building a multimedia server that is going to be running Windows 7 Ultimate as the OS. I have a full version of Windows 7 Ultimate and I created a bootable flash drive and loaded the ISO files on it.

This new system doesn't even have a CD/DVD drive installed on it which is why I'm using a flash drive to install it. Everything boots up fine from the beginning, asks me for the language and all the other stuff. When I click on INSTALL it then gives me a screen that says:

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for his step."

I have done a little bit of research and people suggest using the SATA drivers for the motherboard. I've tried that and still doesn't work. I have all the minimal stuff on the motherboard. Only one SATA HDD (500GB WD Green) 2GB of RAM, USB keyboard and mouse and that's it.

The only thing I can think of is that Windows doesn't realize it's being installed from a flash drive. I tried hooking up a DVD ROM drive to see if that would help but still got the same error.

You guys are my last hope to get this working.

Please help!

Nevermind, figured out the issue. After doing some additional research online, most people had experienced this issue when burning the ISO onto a DVD and 99% of the time it turned out to be a bad burn or a corrupted download.

In my case what happened was that while preparing the flash drive, a friend of mine recommended opening up and extracting the ISO using WinRAR (which I have never used with an ISO), and for some weird reason WinRAR was only extracting 358MB's instead of the 3.13GB's of data.

So after realizing what happened, I wiped the flash drive, mounted the ISO using Daemon tools and extracted the contents (the whole 3.13GB's) and put them on the flash drive.

The install seems to be going smoothly now so this thread can be locked and considered resolved.
