I have a big problem with my pc. When I start up it says "Sr risk of instability [Expert] - Allows full customization of performance options. Advanced users only". It says that under where it says the memory frequency, primary master, primary slave.

It gives me the option to press F1 to continue. When i do, windows boots like normal but the only problem is that the cd drive and dvd drive dont work. When i go to device manager it says the devices are working fine and the drivers are up to date but when i put a cd or dvd in it says "E:\ is not accessible. The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable." E:\ is my cd/dvd drive.

Can anyone help me?
Marc

You have a hardware level problem. It could be a simple configuration error in BIOS. It could be a failure. I will read through your posts and BIOS manual.

brb

Write down the settings you used to overclock.

Then, set all BIOS options back to standard or default.

Boot to test.

Report.

I have not actualy done any bios overclocking. I changed the frequency to 200 there was a choice between 100/133/166/200. Even if i use fail safe settings it still doesnt work.

If you have a second machine to test the drives I would recommend taking the drive out and putting it into a working computer just to eliminate a drive failure from the list.

I had a few drives fail and they look like they are working fine in device manager however they will not read a disc properly.

So like I said if you can find a second machine to install the drive in for testing it I would try that. Once you know if the drive is actually good or not then you can figure out why it doesn't want to read.

I'm checking on the mobo. seems it is a 2003 year series... it might not be Win 7. compliant.

From what I can find in the Window 7 Compatibility list CHAINTECh is not Win7 compliant.
More info if I can find.

The manufacturer is ACHME. Not Compliant. so may have to use all Drivers in Vista or XP compability mode.

Entry level only. System tested as:
System as Tested
  • Processor: AMD Athlon 2500+ Barton
  • Motherboard: Chaintech 7NIL2 nForce2 400 Ultra
  • Memory: 512 MB GeIL PC-3500 (2x256MB)

If it worked before you over clocked and doesn't after the overclock, put it back to default. If it goes away dont overclock if not its something else.

Hey I am trying to overclock my AMD spemron 2800+ but it doesnt work. The problem is when I go to the bios and go to advanced chipset features there is a option called "system performance" where i can choose between optimal/aggressive/turbo/expert. I want to put it on aggressive but when i do put it on aggressive and restart the pc, the screen stays black. Why is this?

I have not actualy done any bios overclocking. I changed the frequency to 200 there was a choice between 100/133/166/200. Even if i use fail safe settings it still doesnt work.

Whatever.

Write down the settings you used to overclock.

Then, set all BIOS options back to standard or default.

Boot to test.

I went into the bios and went to Advanced chipset features. Then i tried to change system performance to aggressive/turbo and changed the fsb frequency to 200. Then i changed the memory frequency from by spd to auto. I used cpufsb to change the processor from 2004mhz to 2100mhz but it only lasts until i reboot. Even if i load fail-safe defaults the cd drive ( samsung 52x max) and the cd/dvd drive (sahara dual double layer 16x) wont work.

When i go to standard cmos it says by ide secondary master "SAMSUNG CDmROM' SHm1"and when i press enter on it and press ide hdd auto-detection it doesnt do anything. The dvd drive doesnt even show there.

That is overclocking. ACTUALLY.,

To remove Overclock it means: revert back to DEFAULT... pure and simple.
