Solved CD rom problem.

Thank you. If none of the 3 things will work is it 100% sure that it failed? And is there a possible reason for it failing? Does this usually happen when people install new hardware or reinstall the windows? Or is it just random?

If all the other things are done and it is still not working, it is "most likely" the drive. Its not 100% sure. Nothing is 100%.

Its unusual for a device to fail like yours, but anything is possible.

Easy way to tell if drive has failed is to put a live cd in the drive like Ubuntu and see if it will run when turning on computer. If that works then follow the link I posted earlier. You can even put the OS disk in and see if it will boot to the disk

Try a Bootable cd like a windows disk or a live cd like Ubuntu. Put disk in and restart computer and make sure cd drive is first boot drive in bios.

How did you install all the OS? Did you use USB? To install it.
