Hi forums, I'm CrazyKilla

After i built my custom PC i bought a 25gb Blu-Ray rewritable CD, sadly my CD-RW cannot read it, is this the CD's problem or the CD Reader?
Maybe CD Reader can't read blu-ray discs or maybe i just need drivers or something?

It is not the problem of either, rather it is you having a CD drive and expecting it to read DVDs and BluRays. It's just not going to happen. BluRay drives can read BluRays, DVDs, and CDs; DVD drives can read both DVDs and CDs, but not BluRays; and CD drives can only read CDs.

Actually, you need a bluray writer, which is probably what you meant due to the price you posted.

Exactly. Although the technology involved in all the drives and the disks is essentially the same (the disks are read by means of a laser), it is the wavelength of the laser used in the drive that determines what type of disks are compatible with it. Specifically, it is the size of the point that the laser is capable of focusing to when reading a disk, with CD drives being the largest point size, followed by DVDs and BluRays having the smallest. This ties in with the track sizes on the various media, with CDs being the widest and again following through DVDs and BluRays getting narrower each time.

Also the BluRay players/writers use a very short wave length blue laser as opposed to the long wave red ones for CD/DVD. Hence the name BluRay.
