Solved Certain games have sound but no video

Hello to all,

As the title suggest, I have a few games now that start up with the regular sound but show me nothing on the screen but deep, annoying, blackness.

So far, I have found this to happen with Darksiders and GuildWars2.

I have already done the following to no avail:
1) remove a few unused codecs
2)install Shark007 codecs for x64

I have not been able to find many other occurrences of this. Any help to fix this issue is greatly appreciated.

Ok, found the solution (seemingly rather quickly)

The fix is to launch all of the games with this issue in windowed mode (for GW2, the example is here:Command line arguments - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W))

Well, I was going to say that a possible and permanent solution would be to Update your Audio &
Video drivers correctly but if that works for you...
