Certificate problems (net::err_cert_date_invalid)

For the last of couple of weeks I've been consistently getting net::err_cert_date_invalid when visiting some sites (eg en.wikipedia.org) on 3 of my 4 browsers, on one computer (no problem on my other PC)

I have up to date versions of vivaldi, firefox, and opera, and an old version of firefox
It's strange the only one that doesn't have the problem is the up to date firefox the old one I hadn't used in years also has the problem.

I'm connected to the internet via an ethernet cable.

I've tried a few things with no luck:
checked that the computer time and date were right
cleared the browser cache
turned off all browser extensions,
ran in safe mode,
looked in programs to make sure nothing new was there,
turned off anti virus,
manually updated certificates using asher tools Root Certificate Updater

Can you point me in the right direction?

Its normally date and time that does this so if you have correct time is the time zone correct as it could throw the date out

I hadn't tried that, I just checked and the time zone is correct.
So that isn't it.

Maybe this will help you, run this executable and make sure you restart the browser after launching the rootsupd.exe. When i was using windows XP a couple of months ago it kept showing me the certificate error and when i used that rootsupd it almost didnt show anymore for me.

I thought that was just for XP, but it looks like other people have used it successfully on windows 7.
I've seen instructions for using it that tell me to:

Extract the files using the command rootsupd.exe /c /t:C:\temp\extroot
3. from c:\temp\extroot run the following 4 commands (from an elevated prompt)
updroots.exe authroots.sst
updroots.exe updroots.sst
updroots.exe -l roots.sst
updroots.exe -d delroots.sst

Is this necessary, or can I just run the .EXE?


Also I forgot to mention earlier I also tried turning the firewall off. and I have no proxy.

turning off the firewall is not gonna help with anything. You can just try to run the .exe if it doesnt work then try the commands.

food for thought if that doesn't work,, have a look at the firefox change log page, they might have included/removed a cert check setting

I tried running the rootsupd.exe it ran but didn't fix anything.
Any other ideas?
