Hey folks, so a while ago I asked how to remove padding around the clock area and I've finally found a work around to that, and found out why it stays so big. For those who are curious, here's why:

The normal way for the task bar is with big icons and for the image to display as:

____00:00
Day, 01/02/03

So the day and date takes up the space centering the time. Now, when you put it to small icons and the task bar goes like classic size, the date etc is still there, just hidden below the screen basically, so it continues to stretch the space required.

Now, the current work around is to change the short date format. Which is great, you change it to "d" and it means it shows:

00:00
1

If it's the first day of the month, meaning the time is the biggest thing there, space around time is gone.

However, now there's a new problem: when you're sorting things in explorer it too uses the short date format. And MSN shows things like "sent 01:30 on 1" instead of "sent 01:30 on 01/02/2008"

So what I want to do, is keep my date settings how they are and just remove the date part from the time holder, so the only thing there will just be the time digits.

any ideas folks? :)

hmm right lick the taskbar > Properties > Use Small Icons
it makes the taskbar smaller, but IMO neater, and the date disappears

I was able to reduce it a bit by going Taskbar & Tray Notify -> Tray Notify -> Basic -> Clock and change ContentMargins:Margins to 0, 0, 0, 0
